Our Minister

 Rev Ramsay B Shields 

Ramsay grew up in East Kilbride.  While working for the Royal Bank of Scotland, he felt a call to serve in full-time ministry, and left to study a for a BA in Business Studies at the then Glasgow College of Technology (now Glasgow Caledonian University) majoring in finance and marketing.  After  being accepted by the Church of Scotland selection process, he attended Glasgow University where he gained his BD.

His Probationary Period was at Rothesay Trinity Parish Church, before he was called minister at Fordyce Parish Church in Portsoy. He has been minister at Milngavie St. Luke's since 1997.

Ramsay has a passion for expository preaching and a heart for seeing unbelieving people become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ within the church.  As well as parish ministry, Ramsay has served extensively on the Church of Scotland's Social Care Council, the former Stewardship and Finance Committee, and the Judicial Commission.

His hobbies include music, languages, reading, photography, and domestic pets.  He is married to Ann, and they have three children, Calum, Lisa and Iain.
